When death is sudden and unexpected people can experience trauma and that can be even harder during a time of great upheaval - like the times we are in in 2020.

We run several grief groups, but we realized a need for specific support for those who experienced a death due to the coronavirus. In fact, we thought that the existing grief groups were not ideal places for the loved ones of victims of COVID-19 to pour into, because the losses that these individuals are experiencing are unique and specific.

”I lost my life partner in 22 days from diagnosis of pancreatic cancer to death in 2008 while the economy was tanking, I lost my career job just months later and lost our home… I have some ideas about what this road looks like. And I don’t. But I still will step up. Grieving people always teach me what I need to know, rather than the other way around.” - Kim Go

Support structures are often not available when a global economy like ours is faltering - and - peer support grief groups are an exceedingly powerful tool for providing stability and support. All tools have their place. This is one of them.

We will not be therapy. We will be community. We will not be everything. We will be compassion. We will be companions on the journey that will not develop “compassion fatigue”. We will be open 24/7 because we are a virtual community. While in-person and professional support are VITAL… we know we have a role to play.

If you have experienced the death of a loved one from COVID-19 or know someone who needs this information, pass it along. The group is on Facebook - HERE
